New Flaming Lips?

I havn't been inspired to write anything lately, but after watching this, i became overtly excited for the Flaming Lips' new album because it sounds as if it will be absolutely stupendous, if the rest of it sounds like this cover of some Madonna song.

success?

We played our first show last night opening for Bon Jackwood and the Wife Dies under the moniker "the Asper School of Business". 5 song set, which we had 4 days to practice for, when we had previously not practiced for about half a year. I think it went pretty well. It ended in a big drum fest. That was fantastic. At least we probably left a pretty memorable impression.

I know zac posted this on the dab, but it's one reason why it is quite unfortunate that Beirut isn't playing at Folk Fest.

Trail of Dead's new album, Century of Self, is up on this site for an online listening party. A real big party. Skeptics be warned. I'm not sure what i think of it yet. I'm only on the second song. The middle parts are all classic trail so far, but the melodies are weird and off and poppy and idunno. I think its going to take a while to digest

15 steppies

My mom came down the stairs to tell me there was some radiohead band on grammys with a marching band and it looked cool. It was definitely the best if not the only worthwhile moment of the grammys. Fuck, is Thom Yorke is awesome. What a swell song.

songidysongs

Check out this song me an mike made last week. It's only in two parts so far, and is intended to have overlapping harmonies added, as well as words, more parts, other instruments, etc. We recorded it live and mike switched between guitar and keyboard on it. pretty proud of how its sounding, albeit there isn't much there.

Wing sings the beatles

Finally, I looked up that Roky Erickson documentary

This is the documentary stef keeps talking about, where the lead singer of the 13th floor elevators goes crazy and lives in a shack for the rest of his life. reall intersting.
